Editor of COMMONWEAL ~ Short letter to Gordon from James, return letter from Gordon. ~ James writes Gordon saying that COMMONWEAL does not want to take up the issue of the draft again, however they could use the last part of his article for a piece on the church's response to selective service. He says that if Gordon wants to submit his piece elsewhere for publication he will understand. Gordon responds saying that he is willing to let COMMONWEAL do some cutting and shaping as long as they include 2 important points: that the return to the draft is more imminent than we think, and that we shouldn't put faith in Reagan's expressions of disapproval of conscription. ~ 4/2 (James) 4/10 (Gordon)
