General

Document. A copy of the address Gordon delivered at the second Bishop's Day of Peace, printed in The Catholic Worker ~ Gordon starts by saying that the general situation regarding the arms race and war has not changed much. He asserts that although the Vatican has issued the most explicit statement against war and violence, many Catholics are unaware of it. Gordon goes on to summarize past peace day messages, and says that despite them all, the arms race goes on unabated. He says that the Church is failing in significant ways which has marred its effectiveness in issues of war and peace. Gordon contends that a failure of communication is characteristic of the Church at all levels, and that a similar attack should be mounted against war by the Church as the one against abortion. He then makes some proposals for the church and its followers to take. ~ newspaper--The Catholic Worker ~ VOL. XLIV ~ NO. 4 ~ 1, 4, 9, 10 ~ May
