Document. An article reviewing Frederic Spotts' book, The Churches and Politics in Germany. ~ Gordon praises Spotts analysis of the part played by churches in modern German political history, and offers explanations as to why the Catholic Church exerted more influence than the Protestant Church. He says the lesson to be learned from the German experience is not that the church must avoid political involvement, but that it must make its influence felt in better ways. ~ Newspaper
