Document. The Brain Drain From Catholic Colleges and Universities ~ Response by above 3 writers concerning the loss of senior faculty members as a problem facing Catholic higher education, and reasons for their own transfers from Catholic to secular institutions. ~ Gordon compares and contrasts his experiences within the two universities. He states that Loyola was much more traditional and conservative in its views of authority and discipline (at the expense of truly democratic student and faculty involvement) and that University of Mass. in Boston provides many more opportunities for the students and faculty to have autonomy and responsibility regarding decisions of the University. Gordon also says that the administration at Loyola seemed indifferent to his decision to leave and made no effort to compromise in order to keep him on staff. ~ A JUBILEE Report ~ ~ 56-60
