Document. Pacifism and America ~ Response of above authors to question, "Is pacifism America's best answer to the threat of nuclear war?" ~ Zahn- Pacifism is inescapable for the Christian, and we must continue to search for alternatives to war. Connell- The claim that nuclear war could never be just is an invalid argument. Tavard- Pacifism, as complete disarmament, is not the answer; the U. S. should stop the use of force in Vietnam and rid ourselves of fears of communism. Novak- Pacifists have their place, however the U. S. should not adopt pacifism as a policy. Berrigan- "war is obsolete, or man is." We must make a just and lasting peace. Cronin- The U. S. should not lessen its posture of deterrence. Egan- position of "Christian peacemaking" Forest- the war is creating more evils than it is rectifying. Cornell- pacifism is imperative, Rome should lead a crusade of conscientious objection. ~ The Sign ~ 15-19, 63 ~ 8/?
