Includes telegram from George Little to Knute Rockne 12/24/1928: “In view of the facts that it seems that your new stadium will not be ready for 1929 it will be necessary for the University of Wisconsin to exercise their option as provided in contract and as you consider playing the game in Chicago.”

Telegram from George Little to Knute Rockne 03/21/1929: “I am also a little annoyed by the report that has reached you regarding the statement made by Dick Hanley. It may be that Northwestern has taken this means of eliminating any game that we might play in Chicago. I do know that at the last Directors meeting at Iowa City at the time of the Western Conference Meet March 8th and 9th the matter of playing in Chicago or on other grounds game up, and Griffith stated very clearly at the time that Purdue could play Indiana at Indianapolis provided the control of the grounds was under the auspices of either team, and likewise they could play anyone else at Soldiers Field in Chicago, as interpreted by the Directors consensus of opinion regarding the rules. “We will go a step farther immediately and through Professor Pyre and possibly the cooperation of Mr. Griffith find out more about this. Just as soon as I can get some definite word I will write you immediately. “There have been several fine angles to this game and we certainly do not want to have our contemplated plans foiled. The relationship between you and Coach Thistelthwaite and the fact that Notre Dame and Wisconsin are meeting within a period of three years in all sports should have a great deal of bearing on the friendly rivalry that has developed. I do not think it is the intention of many members of our Conference either from standpoint of representatives, directors, or coaches, to take the attitude as expressed by the estimated vote of Mr. Hanley.”
